Families Exploring Down Syndrome
Families Exploring Down Syndrome (FEDS) focuses on educating medical providers, nurturing new parents, and fostering engagement among families with community events.
The organization began as small group of parents who gathered in 1989 at the Macomb Intermediate School District building. Their purpose was to network with other parents of children with Down syndrome. Soon the group began to have regular meetings as well as speakers on topics such as healthcare and education. Pattie Anderson was elected to as the first president.
